Bed Bug Control Services

Bed bug infestations are on the rise in the UK, occurring year-round and often in hightraffic areas like hotels, cinemas, and homes. These pests are brought in through travel bags, second-hand furniture, or clothing. Bed bugs are elusive, nocturnal creatures that hide in cracks and crevices, making them difficult to detect until bites and other signs appear.

Signs of a Bed Bug Infestation

Bites on the torso

(not everyone reacts to bites)

Tiny blood stains

on sheets or pillowcases

Black, sticky spots (bed bug feces)

around mattress seams, upholstered furniture, or bed frame corners

Why Choose Professional Bed Bug Control

Bed bugs are notoriously difficult to eliminate. DIY methods like sticky traps are ineffective, and they can survive extreme cold or fumigation. The most effective solution is a combination of heat treatment and insecticide, but success depends on correct preparation and aftercare.

Preparation you must undertake prior to an insecticide spray, with or without heat or steam treatment

  • All items of bedding need to be put through a hot water wash (60°c) followed by a hot dry cycle.
  • Carpets and curtains must be cleaned/vacuumed.
  • Mattresses need vacuuming. If mattresses have buttons, then vacuum around each button.
  • Headboards need to be removed and every crack in the bed frame vacuumed.
  • Divan bases need to be opened and every crack and piece of wood vacuumed.
  • Drawers and wardrobes must be emptied and every crack vacuumed. Clothes can only be re-introduced to the rooms once they have been washed.
  • Clear all clutter (toys, books, boxes, DVDs, posters, shoes etc.) and put into a room where nobody sleeps. They will not spread here as they will just lay dormant as they are not getting the warmth or carbon dioxide.
  • Items that cannot be either washed, tumble dried or sprayed with insecticide must be put in a freezer overnight before returning them to the treated room.
  • After vacuuming remove the vacuum bag and place in an outside bin.

Aftercare

  • The treated room must be slept in continuously to encourage the bed bugs to crawl over the treated surfaces.
  • Do not vacuum the carpeted areas that have been treated for at least two weeks or longer if the room(s) are not kept hot and dry. The walls, bed frames or any other treated surfaces must not be washed for at least two months. The reason for this is that the insecticides will last up to 2 months and washing, vacuuming and cleaning will break the insecticides down.
  • Any items which were removed from the room prior to the treatment should be washed at a high temperature, briefly tumble dried at a high temperature or put in a freezer overnight before being returned to the room.
  • Don’t introduce new items to the room such as a new mattress or new furniture until a month after the technician’s last visit.

How Our Bed Bug Treatment Works?

Bed bugs are one of the hardest pests to get rid of. Treatments will only work if the correct preparation and aftercare are carried out. Please be aware it takes several weeks to completely eliminate an infestation of bed bugs whichever treatment is used.

Insecticide spray

x2 insecticide sprays will eliminate a bed bug infestation but this is only guaranteed if the second spray is within 1-month of the first and the correct preparation and aftercare is undertaken.

Insecticide spray is applied to the walls, ceilings, carpets, bed frame, mattress, furniture and surrounding areas where bed bugs may crawl and live. Our technicians are thorough; loose carpet is pulled back so the area below can be sprayed and all the cracks and crevices in the plaster of the walls and ceiling as well as the area behind loose wallpaper is sprayed. Insecticide powders are used in voids, large electrical items and electrical sockets and light fittings. Bed bugs crawl over the treated surfaces and absorb the insecticide, although they don’t die instantly.

We recommend a second spray 3-weeks later. Spot checks and re-treatments will be carried out in areas where bed bugs were originally found in case any eggs have hatched.

  • Insecticide Spray: Two insecticide treatments are necessary. The first spray eliminates bugs on surfaces, while the second ensures any newly hatched bugs are eradicated. The insecticide is applied to walls, ceilings, furniture, and other hiding spots.
